Essentially, tyres bearing this stamp are designed for heavy cars rather than ones that carry big loads. Reinforced tyres are adapted to loads and pressures bigger than those provided for the standard version of a given size. They have been designed for any scenarios when the tyre ’s use requires additional, higher than the standard load capacity. Designation of reinforced tyres.
What is load rating on tyres? Is it possible to mix tyres? Why to buy tyres with a standard load index? They use a more reinforced compound to carry heavier loads , but are the same size as normal tyres. Something else I see is that the extra load versions of the tyre often have better rolling resistance (fuel efficiency) ratings.
Some vehicles are able to carry greater loads and therefore need a higher inflated tyre pressure reading. The tyre load index is the maximum capacity that each individual tyre can carry. It is usually represented in kilograms. It may also be possible to mix tyres with a different load index and speed rating if the load index and speed symbols are higher than the minimum threshold recommended by the vehicle manufacturer ( extra load vs. standard load ). In these instances, fit the higher-rated tyres to the rear axle.
Extra Load tyres vs Normal. The Dunlop tire , however, can. The extra weight of heavier vehicles needs to be supported by the tyres as well as the springs in the suspension. This is achieved either by using a different material, or more commonly, by reinforcing the structural material inside. You might like these.
Are car tyres any cheaper now in lockdown? The UK government are still allowing car garages, and therefore tyre fitters, to remain. Heavy vehicles and loads place greater demands on the tyres. They run hotter and would be more susceptible to failure if they were not of the correct specification. These tyres also win points for their good looks, low noise and fuel efficiency.
Furthermore, these are extra load tyres , which means they are reinforced and designed for heavy cars and the higher tyre pressures demanded by such vehicles. Although a Michelin Pilot Sport car tyre is not a run-flat, there are several distinct advantages to this. Use the tyre specified by the vehicle manufacturer and inflated to the pressures they specify. Winter tyres are usually allowed to have a lower speed rating than Summer tyres , normally by one level. Please make sure you double-check your tyre size, load index and speed rating before ordering.
Not only are they constructed to cope with weight, but also the higher tyre pressure these vehicles need to run at. Run flat tyres allow you to drive for a limited time with a puncture to get to a garage in order to fix the problem. If your car came with XL tyres you should always use these. Rtyres with extra load is 92Y, would be 88Y without. The index would be different for different size tyres.
The Falkens are extra load rated. The key is the digit number, in this case, 9 which is the load index of the tyre. The test was conducted by Auto Express in cooperation with Continental in Hannover, Germany. This is the second year in a row Continental have won the ultimate summer tyre test by Auto Express.
VAT (£exc VAT) fitting charge per tyre will be added to your basket at checkout. Your estimated delivery date will be the preferred arrival date selected at the time of order. Postcode restrictions may apply. I wil contact my insurance company and get their opinion on this.
I doubt if they will have a clue what I am talking about but its worth a try ! Load Index number is for sidewall flex, XL is for higher tyre pressures. A car that runs extra loads needs higher tyre pressures to compensate (see your door jam) and an XL tyre is designed to run with these higher pressures. Generally tires with higher load ratings have stiffer walls, meaning they make lousy ride comfort.
When I drive it empty it is like driving on metal wheels. Than read the consumer reviews on the tires. The load capacity of a tyre determines what weight each tyre is able to carry.
In some cases your insurance can become void if you select the incorrect tyres. Radial tyres are marked with the letter R. Almost every new tyre manufactured today is a radial tyre.
