Microlight training

What is microlight aircraft? Should you buy a microlight aircraft? Where is microlight flying? Microlight Training. The minimum requirements are:-.


A restricted licence is available with reduced requirements (15hrs total, to include 7hrs solo flying), but will limit you to flying in the local area.

We use the latest generation of british dual controlled microlight aircraft piloted by an experienced instructor in microlight aviation. The school offers training for the grant of a National Private Pilot’s Licence with a microlight rating. We have three instructors and training is offered in both flex-wing and fixed-wing microlights. However, most people take longer. They can also provide follow on training or experience for navigation confidence.


They have on-site maintenance and service of their own aircraft. Early microlights were developed from hang-gliders and were very noisy and slow. Modern microlight aircraft are capable of great distances in comfort with cruise speeds of over 100mph.


Whether you want to just potter around the local area sightseeing or fly round the world (Yes! it has been done!) microlight aircraft are perfectly suited.

After your introduction to microlight training through your trial lesson you can take further lessons to complete the microlight pilot’s syllabus which will take you up to gaining a pilot’s licence. Guidance on when differences training may be required when the pilot wants to fly a microlight aeroplane. All new flight exercises include a classroom PowerPoint pre-flight brief, to help you get the most from the flight exercise. If you’re looking to fly microlights recreationally and share the adventure with a friend or family member at an affordable rate, the NPPL (M) is the licence for you. Our training environment is quite unique in the microlight world.


It’s based at a licensed airfield and integrates seamlessly with large scale GA training and hire, helicopter training and charter, commercial and advanced flight training and classic tiger moth experiences. To obtain the licence the candidate must be able to fly a microlight in a safe and confident manner and understand both their own and their aircrafts limitations. Some material is available before the next lesson to allow reading ahead and post flight revision. Most instructors prefer to use their own machines for training , and the experience you gain on your course will be invaluable in choosing the right kind of microlight for you. Your instructor will also be able to advise you, and may even be able to come with you to cast their expert eye over your planned purchase.

Pegasus France is a microlight training school situated in the south-east of France in the foothills of the Alps offering both fixed and flexwing courses. Located at Gap-Tallar there is always something going on. With a unique micro-climate the area enjoys 3days of sunshine and 3days of flyable weather.
